An innovative industrial tool to tackle food waste

 

 

We are proud to announce the commissioning of SOBRE, a new-generation mobile agro-residue processing unit. Developed jointly by Upcyclink and Le Garrec SAS, with the support of the Brittany region, SOBRE represents a major step forward in optimizing the recovery of by-products as close to the source as possible.

 

Autonomous valorization

Adding value to co-products is a logistical challenge for food operators. SOBRE simplifies this task thanks to its mobile, compact and plug and play design. Easily integrated on site, this unit has a processing capacity of 1.4 tons per week. It carries out all stages of fish, seaweed, fruit and vegetable by-product recovery without any constraints, offering a turnkey solution.

 

 

Innovative Upcycling

SOBRE uses green biorefinery technologies that are unique in terms of their value-added capacity, universality and flexibility. The bioconversion chain transforms fresh, undegraded biomass into high value-added products, offering complete traceability. These products are destined for the human, animal and plant nutrition markets, with more attractive economic outlets than conventional agro-residue management.

 

A sober approach

SOBRE embodies the principles of the circular economy. By recovering biomass in its entirety, it aims for zero waste. What’s more, by relocating the recovery process, it reduces the greenhouse gas emissions associated with transporting bio-waste over long distances. This innovative solution has been recognized by the Brittany region’s Inno-Expé Sobriété scheme.

 

Deployement and expansion

Initially tested in the seafood sector in the Brittany region, SOBRE is designed to be containerized and to meet the needs of agri-food operators in France and Europe. The tool is also available for R&D projects, facilitating the scaling-up phase.
